Betty Cochran Betty Lou Cochran, 73, of Hector, died Saturday, April 20, 2002 at her home. She was born on June 7, 1928 in Hector, she was the daughter of the late Bervie and Stella Rowlands Hurley. She graduated from Hector High School and received an associates degree in home economics from Arkansas Polytechnic College. Mrs. Cochran worked for the United States Postal Services for 34 years, 17 years as postmaster of the Hector office. She was a member of the Hector Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School classes and served as an elder. She was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Catherine Coffman. Survivors include her husband, Loyd "Butch" Cochran; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Kenny Parrish; Jan and Mike Bartlett all of Hector; Ann and Robert Murdoch of Atkins; one sister, Bennie Tackett of Hector; six grandchildren, Amanda Helton, Tracy Lusk, Kelly Hay, Lindsay Murdoch, Brent Bartlett and Lesley Bartlett; four great-grandchildren, Heather Helton, Kristen Helton, Seth Lusk and Ben Lusk, and numerous niececs and nephews. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday, April 22 at the Hector Cumberland Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. David Carpenter. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery at Hector, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to Hector Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 10884 SR 27, Hector Ark. 72843 or Senior Specialist Hospice, 1310 West Main St. Russellville, Ark. 72801.
