I can't remember if I've ever posted to this list. If I have, I don't think it was recent. I'm researching my husband's Cochran line. I know his grandmother was Ellen Louise Cochran born in Birmingham in around 1919 (I am writing from memory on this). Her parents were Mary Alice Howard (daughter of Matthew Howard) and Robert Clayton Cochran. The only possible lead on Robert Cochran's line is that he was living very close to a Lonnie Cochran. I've traced Lonnie Cochran's line to Lowndes Co Alabama -- he was the son of William A Cochran and his first wife. William A. Cochran appears to be the son of George and Elizabeth Cochran. I believe Lonnie and Robert were brothers mainly because Lonnie lived so close to Robert. Robert would have been too old by the 1900 census to live at home, but Lonnie is 5 years younger and was still at home. I cannot find Robert Clayton Cochran on the 1900 census at all. I don't know where he is. I have other information on R.C. -- he rem! arried later on to a woman called "Leafy". He is buried in the W. C. Cochran lot in Oakland (if memory serves me correctly). There are others buried here, but the confusion lies in the fact that I can't connect him to those who are buried in the same lot. Perhaps there is no connection. I don't know. At any rate, if any of this rings a bell, I would love to hear from you. According to a military registration card -- Robert Clayton Cochran was born in AL March 14, 1883. He lived in Pratt City at the time of the registration in 1917. During this time, Lonnie Cochran was also living in Pratt City Alabama. He is listed as born Jan 9, 1888 in Mt. Willing Alabama. In 1917, he was listed as married with two children ages 2 & 3. ~ Mary
