Hey there, My grandmother is a Cochrane and I am researching the family tree and history. I would love all the help I can get!! I've unearthed some interesting things (for her anyway) that have proved family stories aren't always correct. I also have information to share if anyone wants it. From the furtherest I can go back: John Cochran married Agnes Boyd on 1 Dec, 1755 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. They had the following children (all Cochran's), all born in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland: John (b: 22 Dec 1756) Margaret (b: 30 Jul 1758) Robert (b: 11 May 1760) James (b: 29 Dec 1761) Elizabeth (b: 14 Nov 1763) William (b: 18 Oct, 1766) George (b: 9 Jun 1768) Joseph (b: 26 Apr 1770) Benjamin (b: 9 Nov 1771 died) Benjamin (b Jun 1773) David (b: 19 Apr 1775) Charles (b: 11 Jan 1777) Alexander (B: Jul 1778) Joseph married Margaret Young and they had the following children (please see different spellings for last name), all born in Irvine: Marion Cochren (b: 20 Dec 1801) Agnes Cochran (b: 9 Oct 1803) John Cocheran (b: 28 Dec 1805) George Cochrane (b: 13 Nov 1808) Alexander Cochran (b: 21 Oct 1810) Joseph Cochran (b: 26 Dec 1812) James Cochran (b: 26 Mar 1815) Margaret Cochrane (b: 15 May 1817) George Cochrane married Mary Wallace on 25 Dec 1829 in Dundonald, Strathclyde, Scotland. They had the following children: William Cochrane (b: 31 Oct 1832 in Troon, Ayrshire, Scotland) Mary Cochrane James Cochrane Robert Cochrane (b: 11 Oct 1830 in Dundonald, Ayrshire, Scotland) William Cochrane married Isabella Lamberton in Kilmarnock on 4 Jul 1851.
