Surnames: Cochran, Love, Abrams Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IMJ.2ACEB/2218 Message Board Post: Looking for ties to Donegal, Ireland for John Cochran (b 1803) who arrived in the US in 1825 with wife Ann (Love?-b 1801) and 1 yr. old daughter Jane. Initiallly settling in Jefferson and Coshocton Counties in Ohio they moved to Glasgow, Jefferson County, Iowa in 1841. Two sons were born in Jefferson County, Ohio, George in 1826 and James W. in 1829. My suspicion says they originally settled in Ohio to join family already there. I have considerable data on the family from the time they arrived in Iowa , including the move to Clarke County, Iowa by my ancestor James W. and Elenor (Abrams) whose family moved from Licking County, Ohio to Glasgow. There is also indication that Ann's maiden name may have been Love.

    2. Hello all listers, My gr grandfather, Green H. Cochran, was born somewhere in GA in 1818. Suspect, his father's given name may have been Henry. Green is listed in 1840 in ALA State census as being in Monroe Co. MI. Records found that he purchased land, in Alabama, at the Land Office in Greenville Ala. in 1858. He was found in Gonzales, Gonzales County, TX, in 1880 US census as head of household with twins Susan and Lewis (twins) age 22, Daughter Susan, keeping house and Green and son Lewis working on farm. Green reported to have died before 1889. I would like to find information on him during they years 1879 and 1889 and of his twin children Susan and Lewis Cochran after his death. Thanking you in advance for any and all information offered. Betty, from Massachusetts.

I descend from that couple (about 5 or 6 generations). There parents were evidently George Hart II and Magdalena Scheppert. I haven't been able to find out anything else on your Magdalena's family. Did she marry both John Cochran and Robert Cochran? What can you tell me about this family? I'd be happy to share what I've found on the Hart line.
