They had moved to nearby Taylor Co, FL by 1910, where he was listed on the census that year as Postmaster in the town of Shady Grove. They later lived in Homestead and Pahokee in south Florida. Any information or clues would be much very appreciated. Thanks, Linda

YES, CHEROKEE INDIAN IS ALL THROUGH OUR PAST ANCESTRY, HAVING A COCHRAN MARRY AN INDIAN MAIDEN IN THE 1800'S. I KNOW MY OLDEST SISTER ACQUIRED AN IMMUNE DEFICIENCY DISORDER YEARS BACK AND THE DOCTOR TOLD HER THIS TIME OF DEFICIENCY ONLY RAN IN THE INDIAN BLOOD LINE SO WE WERE ALL CONFUSED FOR SOME TIME SINCE MY FATHER NEVER TOLD US OF ANY INDUIN, AND MY MOTHER'S ANCESTRY WAS DIRECTLY FROM GERMANY. MY FATHER VERNIE HAD COLE BLACK HAIR AND HIGH CHEEK BONES WITH BEUATIFUL BLUE EYES, SO THE CHEROKEE SHOWED UP IN HIM. THERE WAS A STORY WE WERE TOLD ALL WHILE WE WERE GROWING UP THAT I WOULD LIKE TO VALIDATE. WHEN LINCOLN FREED THE SLAVES IT IS SAID THAT A COCHRAN WHICH I GUESS WOULD HAVE BEEN MY GREAT, GREAT GRANDFATHER, LEFT HIS ENTIRE WEALTHY PLANTATION TO HIS SLAVES. DEEDED IT TO THEM. IT IS SUSPECTED HE HAD MANY OF HIS OWN CHILDREN THERE, RAISED AS SLAVES AND THIS IS WHY HE DID IT. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD THIS?

Francis Cochran was my gg grandmother and there are lots of secrets there too. The only info I can offer is from a message board that said: "David Cochran, brother of Frank Cochran, of Fallsburg, died at his home in Menifee Co.,KY on the 31 day of March 1904. He was born in N.C. in April 1825 and was one of the first to enlist in the Confederate army, in the 1st N.C. Reg., Company "A". He was in the battle of Gettysburg, and was so unfortunate as to lose his left hand in this battle. In the year 1876 he left his native state and moved to Menifee Co., KY and had before his death accumulated considerable wealth." I haven't had time to look up records yet for Fallsburg, so that's about all I know. Rumor has it that they were indeed Irish, but have also heard that there was also Cherokee somewhere. Sorry I don't know any more than that. Tara

She might also have been married to a Michael Mohan before that. Thank you.
Am told that before my father Frankie Cochran joined the Korean War that his girlfriend had a baby son, named Frankie Jr., maybe born in Chetopa KS.

Oddly, my father said Lee's name was also Francis, but there were so many family secrets there that it is not clear who is who. My dad was born in aholler in Kentucky, Vernie Cochran, in 1908. He had abrother named Earnest who was a few years older, and two sisters named Ruth and Unice but they were my grandmother Pearl Donathan's, before she married Lee. If you have any info let me know. The Cochran farm and McCoy farms were next to each other, and the Cochran farm was eventually purchased by Elizabeth (Betsy) McCoy. Does anyone have any info on this, or the Cochran's of Blount County? Thank you! Betsy
