Surnames: COCHRAN MAGEE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IMJ.2ACEB/2265.1 Message Board Post: Hello cousin! I am a descendant of daughter Rachel who married Andrew Magee. I can supply you with some info regarding her children if you are interested. She and Andrew moved first to Indiana County and then to Clarion County (both in PA). I don't have anything on Alexander's origin except the article on him in the History of Mifflin County by Cochran. The book was published in 1879, and it quoted an article written at an undisclosed earlier date in the Bellevue, Ohio Local News. Son Joseph Cochran moved there in 1835, and the article mentioned that 8 of Joseph's children were still living. So the information in the article would have been supplied by living grandchildren of Alexander Cochran. The article stated that Alexander came from Ireland as a single man about 1752 or 3 and went to Kentucky in 1758 where he married his wife Nancy (Nancy was a nickname for Agnes.) I wish it had said more about her or her family, but it did not. There must have been a family Bible, because the writer of the article gave the exact birth dates of all 11 children. Maybe if we could find a descendant of the Ohio branch of the family they would have more handed-down family info than survived in the families of the daughte! rs. If you would like to correspond further about this family, you can Email me privately at KRWorley@aol.com.

    2. Harold Cochran
    3. List Pat of Kilgore, Texas writes: " found a Cochran couple buried in the Hopewell Cemetery where some of the Binghams were buried. There were W. M. Cochran, born September 20, 1842, and died March 4, 1908, and M. A. Cochran, born March 8, 1857, buried there. I didn't see any other Cochrans in that cemetery. I am wondering who these people were. I am thinking that the W. M. Cochran was the male. Do you know any Cochrans who have lost an ancestor? Those Cochrans in that cemetery belong to some family. " Harold in Florida
