    1. William Cochran
    2. Alice
    3. Hello Listers: This is a repeat notice as I am having no luck in finding my ancestor. Some of the problem is because we have so little knowledge about his family in Ireland. My Great Grandather, William COCHRAN, bc1825, came from Belfast area (not sure if it was County Antrim or County Down) and we believe his parents were small farmers. He might have also come from a community not that far from Belfast. His mother's surname was CRAWFORD but do not have the given names of William Cochran's parents. He emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1844 via New York City where "he left some uncles". He married Margaret Ann Matthews in 1848 in Ontario, Canada. She had come with her family from Dromara area of County Down to Canada. William and Margaret Ann (Mathews/Matthews) had these children: Margaret, Elizabeth, Nancy, William (Jr.), Ann, Sarah, John and Jane. William Cochrane died in Ontario in March, 1908. Unfortunately no record of the local newspapers survived (because of a fire where it was published) so have not been able to see an obituary. Any information on my Cochran-Crawford ancestors will be very much appreciated. Thanks for your time. Alice Cochrane

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Cochran, Springle, Sprinkle Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IMJ.2ACEB/2346 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on Morgan W. Cochran, who was born about 1870 in Indiana, the son of Charles Cochran & Rebecca J. Morgan W. Cochran married Ida Springle, Abt. 16 Jan 1896 in Sedgwick Co., KS (although both of their families lived in the vicinity of Fall River, Greenwood Co., KS at the time). In 1900, Morgan was enumerated as a Private with a large group of soldiers in Malacanan, Manila, Philippine Islands in the census of Military and Naval Population. He is shown as single. Ida is enumerated in Pierce Co., WA with her father & uncle and is shown as married 4 years. Was there a divorce? What became of Morgan? I do not see Ida in 1910 or 1920, but she "re-appears" on the 1930 census as Ida Cochran. Any information appreciated. Margaret (I noticed this Cocharan Message Board post will be "gatewayed" [forwarded] to Rootsweb's Cochran Mailing List. If you are reading this on the List and would like to reply, please remember to click on the blue link and type your reply directly at Ancestry's Cochran Message Board. If you simply click reply, your response will go only to the Mailing List and I will never see it. Thanks!)
