    3. Did I ever goof! I didn't save the letters about a william Cochran that I believe was on the list a while back. My William Cochran was born in Paisley, Scotland. He came to Massachusetts Bay Colony . Married Experience Weeks in 1758. She died in 1823. Is any one still looking for Info on them? I have a book (given to me from my dad) that shows their 4 children David, James, Nathaniel and James W. It gives a very sketchy history of each generation of my direct line ancestors down to my G-grandfther and then it branches out to all of his brothers and sisters. This is not my work! I would share any info to get someone looking in the right direction. I didn't know the lady who compiled this work so I don't know how accurate her work was. This book was finished in 1959. God Bless Shirley Teats [email protected]

I have her death date as 4/20/1904 (off the internet). I have other information about her if you are interested. They were married in Bartow County, GA 11/16/1838. If you want any of my list e-mail me and I will send them. I have a list of the Cochrans I found on the census reports. If you find anything about James in NC I would like to know. I think I can give you a list of Myers children. It is so hard to figure this stuff out since every male carries the name James into another generation. I wonder if James was named after his father another James. I did go to the library and I found a lot about the Cochrans in Rutherford, NC. They must have been rather well off, since they seem to own a lot of property and they were involved in the happenings of the county. Let me know by e-mail if you want any of this. ________ >> Hello, I have a gr grandfather Green H. Cochran, born in Georgia, in 1818. Father and mother, thought to have come from NC. He married a Nancy (Nannie) Rebecca Joyce, born in GA, daughter of James Jackson Joyce,. It was her 4th marriage, do not know if he had been married prior to this marriage. He was abt. 62, she was abt. 42 years of age. He died after 1889 in Gonzales, Co. TX. I don't have any more information on the Cochran Family, but always looking. Could there be a connection? 2. Both of my ggg-grandparents were Cochrans from Ireland and both were named Hugh Cochran. We think one came from County Down, but we have no proof. The other, we don't know. The one we know of was married to either a Margaret Vernon or a Margaret McDonald. We think Vernon. She died in Ireland before the family came to the USA. Both my families ended up in Westfield, New York in the mid 1800's, but four aunts and uncles came to America in the 1700's through Charleston, South Carolina. I can't remember all four names but I believe two were Rachael and Janet. Rachael married a McRoberts. They all lived, at least for a while, somewhere in the southern USA. Do you have any names and dates? Jim Cochrane

    3. --------- Forwarded message ---------- To: [email protected] http://www.paul_smith.doctors.org.uk/ArchaicMedicalTerms.htm Chills: Usually malaria but may also mean pneumonia Malaria: A widespread disease caused by a parasite in the blood (Malaria literally means bad air) There are several parasites that cause the illness and hence several forms of malaria. All are Plasmodium species and the usual species are P falciparum, P vivax, P ovale and P malariae but there are others and it is possible to be infected by more than one at the same time The anopheline mosquito transmits malaria. The mosquito lays its eggs in pools of standing water especially in those contaminated by sewage. Malaria used to be widespread and was found even in temperate areas like the UK, but improved sanitation has restricted the areas where the mosquito can breed successfully, so malaria is now only found in less sanitary areas of the world Malaria causes episodes of fever called paroxysms. Classically the fever has three stages Cold Stage or rigor in which the patient shakes, often vomits and has a severe headache Hot Stage Sweating Stage Following the paroxysm, the patient feels reasonably well for one or more days, but another paroxysm will follow unless the patient dies Many have tried to classify the various forms of malaria on clinical or bedside methods based on the pattern of the paroxysm, the duration between the fever and associated symptoms. This is far from reliable but has resulted in the terms tertian fever, quotidian fever etc Old Age: In this technological and scientific age, some people think that someone who dies must have suffered a disease that lead to their death Many death certificates give an imprecise diagnosis (myocardial degeneration, morbus cordis, multiple organ failure etc) as the attending doctor felt obliged to conform to this view I feel that some elderly people do, in fact die of old age The registrars in the UK are happy to accept old age as a cause of death The use of the term old age or any of its euphemisms does not indicate that the attending doctor did not know the cause of death. Rather he (or she) was being honest ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less!
