She was born Jan. 11, 1947, in Minnesota to Elwood M. and Audrey Alice Harner Johnson. She graduated from Bricelyn High School in Bricelyn, Minn. She married Gary Knutson on Dec. 26, 1965, in Bricelyn, and they moved to Longmont in 1977 from Iowa. She was a nurse’s aid at Ivy Stockwell Elementary School in Berthoud. Mrs. Knutson was a past president of the Berthoud Booster Club and was the cheerleader sponsor for Berthoud High School and involved with Berthoud youth football. She enjoyed going to sports games, watching sports on TV — especially football — old movies and the History Channel. She loved hamburgers, the mountains, her grandchildren, and always was very social. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont. Survivors include her husband, Gary Knutson of Longmont; two sons, Jay Knutson and wife Stacy of Loveland, and Lee Knutson and fiancee Lesa of Longmont; a daughter, Molly Kennis and husband Jeremy of Windsor; sisters Susan Hintz and husband Mark of Apple Valley, Minn., and Kathy Lura and husband Doug of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; grandchildren Ally and Jaden Kennis of Windsor; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Harn Johnson. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1000 15th Ave., Longmont, with the Rev. Glenn Isernhagen officiating. Inurnment will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Columbarium. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. to receive friends. Memorial contributions can be made to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALS Association, Hospice of Larimer County or Bethlehem Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, 80501.
