He was born Aug. 12, 1911, in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Marcelino Flores and Josefa Gaona. He married Teodora Blanco in San Rafael, Mexico. She preceded him in death in 1969. He arrived in the United States at approximately 15 years of age. Mr. Flores was successful as a farmer, husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed a good cigar, gardening and helping neighbors and friends. He lived in the Johnstown area most of his life, moving there in 1959. He is survived by sons Jose L. Flores and wife Maria of Loveland, Fortino Flores Jr. and wife Denise of Berthoud, Manuel Flores of Canaea, Mexico, and Richard Flores and wife Geri of Bethlehem, Pa.; daughters Irma Flores of Fort Collins, Norma Cook and husband Tom of Berthoud, Rosa Maria Sandavol and husband Jorge of Johnstown, Lupina Ojeda of Santa Ana, Calif., and Margarita Flores and Consuela Rodriquez of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico; 48 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margarita Flores of Reynosa. He was preceded in death by his wife; son Guadalupe Flores; daughter Rosalinda Flores Shoemacher in 1977; and sister Maria Rodriguez in 2000. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Johnstown, the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will be at Johnstown Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. today, Wednesday, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at St. John’s Catholic Church in Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel for the Fortino Flores Memorial Fund in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, 80501.
