[Well, as I find things maybe not so strange.] I couldn't find him or her on the 1920 or 1930 census (here at Ancestry subscription). Those are the only ones with indexes, all the rest are scanned images and would take a long time to search through. I couldn't find either at the Green Mountain Cemetery (Boulder GenWeb) or at the Columbia Cemetery (Boulder Society). The Boulder County Clerks Office has an online index ( http://icris.co.boulder.co.us/splash.jsp ) ; and there it shows that on 5 Aug 1893 he was issued a medical license. (Instrument 80145522 , you can contact them and they can get you a copy for a small fee) On 6 April 1907 a Martha Williamson granted a warrenty deed to a Martha J Jay. On 29 Jan 1920 a Martha J Jay granted a warrenty deed to a William Rose. There were alot of entries for other people named Jay but not knowing the family they didn't mean anything to me. You may want to check and see if they ring a bell. I also have 3 books of newspaper extracts by Mary McRoberts and found the following 2 entries - 1.Births "Combs, Mr. & Mrs. Robert - dau b 20 Apr 1895 near fair grounds in Boulder. Dr. Jay delivered. (HW 24 Apr 1895:5) [HW=Boulder County Herald Weekly] 2.News "Jay, Dr./M...moving to Gunnison. (16 Apr 1896:4) [Boulder Daily Camera] So here's my suspicion - All of the major genealogical events (birth/marriage/death/children/etc) for Dr & Mrs Jay occured elswhere . The trail leads to Gunnison ; but that might not be the end. My family (and I'm noticing others also) were very transient in Colorado - bad case of "happy feet". It appears at least Martha still had property in Boulder and sold it in 1920. Which makes me wonder why I didn't see her on the 1920 index. Indexes often miss people and property can be sold by probate, but I would guess they moved on . I note there is a Western State College in Gunnison. He may have moved there to teach. You might check with them. Also with the Gunnison County Society. If you tell me their childrens names I'll take a glance at the 1920 index for you. Good luck, David Knowles
