    1. [COBoulder] State Census
    2. Hi all, I was given permission to pass on this information from a couple of other mailing lists. I was aware of some but had no idea there were this many. A special thank you to Iris in Iowa and Toby in Maine. It is a list of states and dates where there was a state census taken. A couple of warnings- 1. I haven't verified the data, so if one catches your eye check "The Source" or Cyndi's List or the area GenWeb site for accuracy. (For instance the Minnesota information looks like a few typos.) 2. I don't have special access to any of them and can't do lookups. I have used the Iowa, Nebraska & Colorado ones in the past ; on locale, at the State Historical Society or at a large urban library. I believe interloan library active has increased dramatically in the past 10 years so try your library. FHCs probably can get them. 3. What's the point? Notice the number done in the 1885-1895 period ; they make perfect 1890 substitutes (I think the main purpose harks back to the Constitutional clause - states took them when they were territories to show sufficient size to warrant admission to the Union and took them whenever they felt population growth warranted larger Congressional representation.) If they peak your interest and prompt you to search then this list has done it's job.
