    1. Andrew COMO and family, 1870s, Caribou Ranch

    3. Seeking any information or suggestions re the family of Andrew COMO, who was in Boulder County in the 1870s. According to the BLM database of land patents, Andrew COMO bought 160 acres in the area of what's now Caribou Ranch, west of Boulder, on 6 Jun 1879. Henry COMO (relationship unknown) bought another 160 acres adjacent to Andrew's on the same day. According to http://snipurl.com/8xr9 "Como Creek is named after the Como family, who homesteaded the northeast part of Caribou Ranch Homestead." (p. 48) Settlers in that area were generally Irish or French Canadian. In the 1870 census, Henry COMO is a single farm laborer in Boulder County, age 36, born in Canada. (His surname is shown as COMS in the Ancestry index.) I have not found Andrew in 1870, nor Henry in 1880. I have an Andrew COMO in Missoula MT in 1880, age 46, born in Canada, and I'd like to know if he was the same person as the one in Colorado. My clues so far are (a) that it's an uncommon name and Henry looks like a possible brother and (b) that although the Missoula Andrew was born in Canada, one of his children in a later census just once gives her father's birthplace as Colorado. All suggestions welcomed. Daniel Morgan Washington DC _________________________________________________________________ On the road to retirement?
