Have copies of some wonderful books of newspaper extracts that Mary McRoberts did in 1991. They cover the period 1859-1900 and one is : "Boulder County, Colorado / Marriages, Anniversaries, Divorces, Births and Birthdays / 1859-1900 / Newspaper Abstracts / Mary McRoberts / Boulder, Co/ July 1991" And the other is : "Boulder County, Colorado / Deaths and the Insane / 1859-1900 / Newspaper Abstracts / Mary McRoberts / Boulder, Co / July 1991" I trust her extracts but beware of my typing. Hope I'm accurate. Found the following entries - 1. Obits - "Akins (Aikens, Aikins), Margaret (Rofs) d 10 July 1881 from internal injuries received in carriage accident 9 July when she was on her way from Louisville to a farm near Valmont. Thrown from the wagon this side of Valmont after horses gave a real start. Age 64. Born 1816 near Columbus, OH. Widow of Capt. Thomas Akins. To Colorado from Missouri in 1860. Funeral by Rev. C.M. Campbell. Bur Valmont cem. (MAC 15 July 1881:3 ; HW 13 July 1881:1 ; Akins in cemetery and 1880 census and marriage certificate in BGS Qt Nov 1974, p. 27) [NAC=Boulder News and Courier ; HW=Boulder County Herald ; BGS Qt=Boulder Genealogical Society Quarterly] 2. Obits - "Akins (Aikens, Aikins), Capt. Thomas A. d 16 Apr 1878 at home near Valmont. Age 71 years 8 months. Leader of a company of men who were first white settlers in Boulder County, near mouth of Boulder Canyon in the fall of 1858. Bur Valmont cem. (CN 26 Apr 1878:2; see Estate Files & BGS Qt Nov 1974, p. 27) Administrator's Notice bt Thurston W. Akins. (CN 12 July 1878:4) 3. Marriages - "Scouten, Daniel G. m 29 Nov 1866 Mattie A Akin, dau of Capt. Thomas A. Akin, at home of bride's father in Valmont, CO by Rev. C.M. Campbell. (RMNW 30 Nov 1866:4)" [RMND=Rocky Mountain News] 4.There are notices of births for a "Charles B, & Angie Akins" (dau "Lille") and a "James & Sarah Akins" ( dau "Dora") Hope this helps David Knowles
