Betty, Am just now getting back into the hobby after burning myself out a few years ago. Have copies of some wonderful books of newspaper extracts that Mary McRoberts did in 1991. They cover the period 1859-1900 and one is : "Boulder County, Colorado / Marriages, Anniversaries, Divorces, Births and Birthdays / 1859-1900 / Newspaper Abstracts / Mary McRoberts / Boulder, Co/ July 1991" And the other is : "Boulder County, Colorado / Deaths and the Insane / 1859-1900 / Newspaper Abstracts / Mary McRoberts / Boulder, Co / July 1991" I am not in Boulder Co. and the only books I have are pre 1900. When was your grandfather born ? I've found alot of marriages in the 1890s but no births , which makes me a little suspicious. Do you have any idea what county your grandfather was born in ? Perhaps one of the two following cousins married in Boulder and then moved elsewhere ? There are marriage notices for - 1. Florence A. Schofield "of Canfield" and Ross T. DeArmond "editor of Longmont Times" in Boulder on March 3, 1891. 2.Double wedding - Elmer L. Schofield and Emma L. Prince and his cousin and her sister Alphonso Schofield and Mollie M. Prince. At the brides home "near Erie" on Feb 11, 1892. 3. Charlotte L. Schofield "of Canfield" and C. E. Prince on Feb 24, 1896. Now my standard disclaimers - Not all newspapers from that period survived . And I've found not all births were recorded , this was more a social thing than a vital records thing. So no record of births is not conclusive. But I would check the next county where you find record of him. And I have no idea if this is your line or not. I'm always surprised at how common most names are. Really hopes this helps. Just found info on my maternal grandfather (after 25 years of looking) , so I know how frustrating it can be. David Knowles
