P. Milligan, one of the councilmen from Ward 2, announced this morning that he will not be a candidate for re-election at the November election. Milligan is serving his fourth term and at its expiration will have served eight years and seven months, the additional seven months being due to the change of election from April to November during which time present city officials hold over. In making his announcement Councilman Milligan said: “I want to thank the people of Ward 2 for the confidence and support they have accorded me in the past. It has been my endeavor to serve to the best of my ability. I feel it only proper to let the voters know I am retiring from office. However, I will not lose interest in city affairs, and if in the future I may be of service, it will be my pleasure to do so.” During his long tenure of office as a councilman, Milligan has served on various committees, and at present is chairman of the police committee.
