Mr. Wreed was born Feb. 23, 1915, in Omaha, Neb., to Gustaf Adolf and Ragnhild (Samuelson) Wreed. He graduated from Omaha Technical High School in 1933. He married Marie Edith Wilcox Oct. 23, 1937, in Papillion, Neb. Mr. Wreed worked as a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 1975. After retirement, he and his wife lived in Texas, then moved to Nebraska and later to Loveland in 1994. He recently moved to Longmont to be near his daughters. He held membership in the Steinfjeld Chapter of the Sons of Norway, Union Pacific Retirees and the Loveland AARP. He was a member of the Loveland Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed traveling, trains and his Scandinavian heritage. He was an avid reader. Even with macular degeneration, he would read with a magnifying glass or scanner to keep up on current events. Mr. Wreed was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, in 1999, an infant daughter, Linda Jean, and his sister, Norma Anderson. He is survived by two sons, Robert Wreed and wife Shirlee of Grand Junction and Richard Wreed of Lincoln, Neb.; three daughters, Carole Mason and Eleanor Dellapina, both of Longmont, and Janet Honstein and husband Larry of Niwot; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the Loveland Seventh-day Adventist church, 950 N. Cleveland. The Rev. Jack Bohannon will officiate. Cremation will be at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Longmont. Memorial contributions may be made to the Loveland Seventh-day Adventist Church.
