This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XY.2ADE/733 Message Board Post: I am forwarding this with the kind permision of Letitia Archer Heidlebaugh. We have been communicating lately about her Burke line and I wanted to pass this on to the board, the list and especially get it in the archives. I believe it has value and will be of help to someone. David, The Jennie DORSEY buried with A.G. BURKE is my 2gGrandmother and her full name is Jane Ann ROWE DORSEY BURKE. Her nickname was "Jennie" and we believe she adopted this name because her oldest brothers` spouse was Jenetta "Jennie" APPELTON ROWE. Jane had been raised by Jenetta and had a great love for her. When Jane Ann`s husband Albert DORSEY was killed in the Civil War she was living in Kohoka, MO.and after a tiime she and her daughter Norma Ella DORSEY (gGrandmother) removed to Boulder CO. From this point on Jane Ann assumed the given name of Jennie DORSEY. She soon met A.G. BURKE a divorcee - and the two married. Norma Ella DORSEY met and married Robert Wilson HOWARD (gGrandfather) who was working for the Crackerjack Mine near Nederland. After marriage they lived in Marshall which is just East of Nederland. Norma Ella DORSEY and Robert Wilson HOWARD had 9 offspring the 6th of which was my Grandmother Jennie Agnes HOWARD. Jennie Agnes HOWARD m. Daniel Wilson ARCHER. They were m. at the ARCHER family home on Baseline Road (2 1/2 mi. East of Boulder) This location is very near to where A.G. BURKE had built his home in Valmont and where he finally passed away in 1914. Norma Ella DORSEY HOWARD cared for "Gus" BURKE during his last year and he considered her his daughter (according to obit) even tho she really was a stepdaughter. (daughter of his second wife) The schoolhouse you mentioned remaining in Valmont must be the one that Arliegh BURKE`S father donated land for near the turn of the Century. My Father Glenn L. ARCHER was schooled there as a boy. Please feel free to share this info with the Boulder Genealogical Society as I believe it could add some value! Warm Regards, Letitia ARCHER HEIDLEBAUGH RESEARCHING: ARCHER - HOWARD - BURKE - ROWE - DORSEY - VAUGHAN P.S. Joe VAUGHAN who drove the Jimtown Stage for many years was half brother to Robert Wilson HOWARD as they had the same mother. (Agnes WILSON HOWARD VAUGHAN)
