I don't see an Edith on the California Death Index ; she may have died after 1997, may still be alive, may have remarried or she may have moved out of state. There is a Betty Darleen Foyle born 30 Jan 1927 in California who died in San Diego County on 12 June 1978. She is listed on the SSDI as living in zip code 92104 and had SSN 573-27-1012 . They have the Ancestral file (info not verified and has many mistakes); the 1880 U.S. census, 1881 Canadian and 1881 British census; the International Genealogical Index (IGI) which has entries that are submitted ( use with caution) and those that are extracted by their records program (generally reliable); the Pedigree Resource file; the Social Security Death Index (SSDI); the Vital Records Index; and a web site search program.
