Roseburg, Oregon CLAIR 'TIGHTLINE' MORGAN JR.----Age 79, of Roseburg, Oregon passed away on Saturday 6 , April 23, 2005. He was born on July 18,1915, in North Bend, Coos Co. Oregon, the son of Clair and Agnes [Nabb}Morgan. He moved with his parents at the age of 5 to the State of Colorado. Started School in Stratton. At the age of 15 returned with parents back to Oregon. At the age of 18 he entered the U.S. Army to serve our country during WWII where he served in the Pacific Theatre. He was captured by the Germans and was a prisoner of war for three months before being liberated by the American G.I.'s After the war Clair returned to Oregon and later settled in Douglas County. He used his final pay from the Army to buy a pair of cork boots, and became a logger. He later became a heavy equipment operator, building logging roads, where he earned the title “ Tightline”. He was a longtime employee of B & B Roads. Clair felt at home in the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working. He also loved feeding his “ravens” from atop a bulldozer. He is survived by his first wife: Georgia Francis [Petty] Morgan and their Children, Georgia Jean Smith and her 2nd husband, Ken of Myrtle Creek, Oregon and son Clair Morgan III of Roseburg, Oregon. Survived by 2nd. ! Wife of 33 years.Claudia of Roseburg, Ore. And his step-children: Paula Kay Dowell and her husband, Jerry of Clackamas, Oregon; Teresa Lynn Sitar and her husband Thomas of Aurora, Illinois. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and nine greatgrand children, Nephew and Nieces. Nephew Jerry Proctor of Myrtle Creek , Ore. Nieces Cheryl [Proctor ] and Wayne Standridge of Roseburg, Oregon and Eloise Proctor Root of Crescent, Ore. And his dog, Taffy. He was preceded in death by his parents and only sister, Joyce Irene Morgan Proctor. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. On Friday, April 29, 2005 at the Roseburg National V.A. National Memorial Cemetery. Officiating will be Chaplain John Deck with Military Rites by the VFW District 12 Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor's Family Chapel.
