Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XY.2ADE/629.1 Message Board Post: Hi, The list strips the attachment from the gated post. I can understand that ; unmonitored attachments to a mailing list could contain viruses, etc. and wreck havoc. Still, it's a shame that the 1% spoil it for the 99%. The rules are : "You may only upload GEDCOM files or graphics files. Graphics files will be converted to .JPG or .GIF upon upload. Other files types are not accepted." And you may attach up to 5 files per post. Seems to me GEDCOMs should be traded elsewhere, simply to avoid overloading the servers. And I *quickly* scanned the "Rules", "FAQ" & "Help" but didn't see anything regulating .JPG file size. Does anyone know if there is a file size limit ? I've got a number of photos I'm trying to identify and haven't had much luck at deadfred. This attachment thing seems like a very nice "bells & whistles." Regards, David

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XY.2ADE/533.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks again, David. We did have most everything on my husband's father, Hilton Perry Foyle. My husband met his father for the first time at the age of 19 back in the "40's". They maintained a relationship until Hilton Perry's death. Edith died just recently. Betty had polio as a baby and was pretty much an invalid the rest of her life, in the care of her parents. It was a relationship separated by many miles with a few visits. Sad. It was the ancestors we were curious about as I am attempting to prepare albums of pictures and data for my husband's 3 children. I love playing detective, especially when I get such good help!!! When Edith died, her executrix sent a big box of paper and pictures she thought we would be interested in having. Birth certificates, navy papers, wills, etc. Edith was a saver!, bless her heart, but she did not identify any of the snapshots!!!! I have figured out who some of them are. Something everyone should do religiously......label tho! se photos with names and dates!!!! My e-mail is applejan@nwi.net if you run across any other info. Regards. Janet Hunter Foyle

    1. [COBoulder] Your 1600s American Ancestors
    2. First Families
    3. Hello Everyone: Those of you who are working on your lines back to your 1600s American Ancestors will find the1600s Ancestors Data Base to be of great help. My recent postings to the Data Base has taken it to over 26,500 Ancestors who have descendants living today. I have also added several National Societies who have proven many of these Ancestors. Also at this time a few new respected Reference works that contain thousands of sources including some of the early colonists who have Royal Blood lines. All the entries are coded to indicate to which reference work or which National Society has at least one of their proven lines. Several of the National Societies have over 20 different lines from a single Ancestor. When you enter the 1600s Ancestor Data Base be sure to look at the top of each data page for the link that takes you to the "Data Base Information Page" Here you will find the codes and references listed and how to use them. This is must reading to understand the Data Base. We are constantly updating the Data Base with additional Ancestors added as time permits. You will find the 1600s Ancestor Data Base at: http://www.firstfamilies.org/db/ Everyone has FREE access to all our web site and the reports contained there. Enjoy and Happy Hunting Ryan Jackson Data Base Manager America's First Families

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XY.2ADE/533.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Janet, Sorry I didn't list the 1930 census info for Hilton ; I assumed you had all that and were just looking for his brothers. They are living at 3979 32nd Street in San Diego, San Diego County, CA. (ED37, District 76, page 13B) ; census taken on 15 April. Hilton P. ...owns home...value $3,000...age 28...married 5 years...born Wyoming...father Nebraska...mother Illinois...druggist [looks like] chain drugstores Edith G. ...age 23...born Iowa...father Kentucky...mother [looks like] Missouri Betty [looks like] D. ...age 3...born California... I don't see an Edith on the California Death Index ; she may have died after 1997, may still be alive, may have remarried or she may have moved out of state. There is a Betty Darleen Foyle born 30 Jan 1927 in California who died in San Diego County on 12 June 1978. She is listed on the SSDI as living in zip code 92104 and had SSN 573-27-1012 . A few more sites you should try are Boulder County GenWeb at http://hollyhockfarms.com/coboulder/ . There are GenWeb sites for ever county in the U.S. . Cyndi's List at http://www.cyndislist.com/ . I can't speak too highly of Cyndi's List ; she has over 185,000 links to genealogy sites.. And the Mormon site FamilySearch at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp . They have the Ancestral file (info not verified and has many mistakes); the 1880 U.S. census, 1881 Canadian and 1881 British census; the International Genealogical Index (IGI) which has entries that are submitted ( use with caution) and those that are extracted by their records program (generally reliable); the Pedigree Resource file; the Social Security Death Index (SSDI); the Vital Records Index; and a web site search program. This is my husband's family and since he was separated from his father, H. P. Foyle, at an early age, he had only dim memories and a few pictures with notations to go on......and look what it got us. Thank you!

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XY.2ADE/533.1 Message Board Post: Hi, First of all you need to go to the Boulder Genealogical Society site at - http://www.rootsweb.com/~bgs/ . Click on the Columbia Cemetery link and "F" and then the "More info" link by her name. BGS has done an absolutely amazing job of crossreferencing the people there. You will find a list of details, a reference to the 1910 census and a short Biography ! Apparently the only reason she is buried there is "She moved to Boulder from Gold Hill about a year ago [1910] to give her children the school advantages of Boulder." (I think that's pretty neat) Sadie was born in Nebraska, her father in Kentucy and her mother was born in Illinois & was living in Nebraska in 1911. Looks like they only lived in Wyoming a few years ; 1st, 3rd and 4th sons born in Colorado. Looks like the Foyles were from Sugarloaf ; that cemetery is not online. Another excellent site is the Boulder County Clerks online index - http://icris.co.boulder.co.us/login.jsp . The first entries for a Foyle are 1891 and the last is 1927. Most are location certificates for lodes but there is also an "out of county" marriage certificate for Kirk Foyle & Grace Zonderval. You can get a copy from the Clerks office. Entries for Bradshaw start in 1917 ; but no way of telling if they are yours. I have a subscription here to the census records ; all images and 1920 & 1930 are indexed. I found Perry in Montrose County in the 1920 Census. He had remarried ; the image is not very clear but it looks like "Ida." Nevelle and Darrell are still at home. She was 46, born in Illinois, father born "United States" & mother born Pennsylvania. Kirk is indexed under "Rick" but the image looks like a K to me and all else fits - wife Grace and age 20. Unfortunately the 1920 is indexed to head of house only ; Bertha & Pearl Bradshaw and Hilton Foley may have been living with someone. No George Foley on the index. There is a Katherine M. Bradshaw in Lincoln, Lancaster County Nebraska (ED75, page 14B) . She was 60, living alone, born Illinois, father born Vermont & mother born New York. By the 1930 Hilton is in San Diego, California. Kirk is also in California (Los Angeles) ; listed as a lodger in a hotel, divorced and a salesman. Ida Foyle is also in Los Angeles ; living alone, widowed and working as a housekeeper, private home. No sign of Darrell or Neville. Katherine Bradshaw was boarding with a Flora Christy in Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska. Here she says her father was born in New Hampshire. The only Ward Bradshaw close to a fit was in San Franciso. Also the state of California has online an index to their death records - http://userdb.rootsweb.com/ca/death/search.cgi . It lists an Alan D. Foyle, born 21 Nov 1921 in Colorado, mothers maiden name "Zondervan", died in Los Angeles on 19 March 1992. Hilton Perry Foyle died in San Diego on 24 August 1949. Ida Foyle, born 30 Sept 1871 in Illinois, fathers name Karns, mothers Miller, died Los Angeles 20 Sept 1946. Good luck, David

Sarah (Sadie) E. Bradshaw was born in 1880 and died in 1911 and I believe is buried somewhere in the Denver/Boulder area under the name of Sadie E. Foyle 1880 -1911 (tombstone). Perry & Sadie lived in Casper, WY where their son, Hilton Perry Foyle was born in 1902. Hilton Perry had brothers, Kirk B. (later lived in Denver area), Neville and Darrel (Calif in later years). We believe there are descendants of Kirk Foyle still living in the Denver area. Where and when was Perry Foyle born and deceased? Where are the other children or descendants of Neville and Darrel? Who were Perry's parents? Who were Sarah's parents? Sarah had a brother, Ward Bradshaw and a sister, Mrs. G. W. Arnold.....only names in a book!! Any knowledge of these families would be greatly appreciated.

I found Arleigh easily in both - 1920 at the Naval Academy and 1930 in Annapolis with his wife. And I found Oscar in the 1930 easily. You know how enumerators can butcher names , so can indexers. In 1920 he's indexed as "Bucki" ! He's in Valmont, Precinct 5, ED31, page 8B, on Baseline Road. The census was taken 30 & 31 March. Top of page is Willam Sparkman family, August Korte, Nathan Pyle, William Adams, Samuel [looks like] Heath, all on [looks like] Cherryvale road. Then on Baseline Road are Carl Vorhees, Mathew Nicholas, [looks like] Jachin Bell, Arthuer Taylor, Anna Pearson, Elmer Kingman and Oscar Burke, age 56, born Colorado, father Sweden, mother Illinois, Farmer, General Farm. Next page is wife Clara, Arleigh (he got tabbed twice), Ruth, Edna May, Edith, Victor & Barbara. That ends Baseline Road. Next ones look like a family per small side road - Fred Benson family, Charles Raymond, Lewis Kelso, Joseph Carlson, John [looks like] DeBacker and finally partners Cyril Ballard & Emmet Vanderpool a couple of Belgium farmers who had arrived in 1907. Appears they were still on the ranch but the Archers had moved into town. Everyone on Baseline owns except for Jachin Bell and Elmer Kingman.Wonder if one of those is the Archer farm. David
