Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XY.2ADE/870.1 Message Board Post: The address and phone number for Crist is Crist Mortuary and Crematory, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, CO 80301-1805, phone 303-442-4411. After Walt Geddes died in the late 60s, Carl (?) Crist took over at the old location at 2305 Broadway, and later moved to the current location. Hard to tell how many records he moved, but 1950s records would have been relatively "recent" then. (I worked for Walt from 1962-65.)

My purpose in this series was to find out about Arleigh`s monument? I could not find any trace in the Boulder County web-site -- hence the query. I believe that Arleigh and my father-in-law Glenn ARCHER attended the same school out on Baselne Road that was donated by Oscar BURKE? Arleigh was several grades ahead of Glenn; however they lived on the next farm which was 2 or 3 mi East of town. (in Valmont) I toured the old farm with Glenn in 1955. -L.H.

Arleigh`s Grandfather was almost as famous because he was the first to start a bakery on Larimer St. in Denver and had to fire the bricks for the first Kiln in Colorado. He was known as the "Little Swedish Baker" to the Miners from the area. He also played the fiddle for the miners who had to dance with each other as there were no woman in Denver at that time. A.G. BURKE later became a farmer in Valmont on Baseline Road.

Surnames: MCMILLEN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XY.2ADE/858.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks, Debra, for the informaton and contact address. The church having been established in 1915 would be in the right period for Robert McMillen; he moved to Colorado in late 1913 and died in 1919. I was pretty sure he died in Denver and have recently had that confirmed. Also, I've learned that he was buried just outside of Denver in Jefferson County, not in Nederland. As the burial information came from my sister (1914-1999), she may have also been wrong about his founding the church in Nederland. It was pretty well known in the family, however, that he did establish one somewhere near Denver. Robert was my uncle, so we're not talking about long-term family tradition, which tends to get more garbled over time. I will write to the Nederland church to see what information the folks there know about its founding.
