Even better, I found a Cyrene D. or Cyrene I. Farwell there in the Register of Homestead Entries, Denver Land Office Records, 1862-1908. Cyrene's land was at Township 4, Range 69. I went to nationalatlas.gov and found out that this is the T. and R. that Berthoud, Colorado is in up in Larimer County. There was also a Cyrus D. Farwell who had homestead land in the same Township and Range. Anyway, these two records point you just a little farther north. It's possible that Cyrene moved to Gold Hill, or simply died there while visiting. Good luck with your search! Maybe Leah or I can check the 1851-1900 abstract book of death notices in the Boulder newspapers in case Cyrene turns up there. I'll put you on my list of lookups! - Karen

If you search the library catalog (restrict the search to Carnegie Library) for Swallow at http://www.boulder.lib.co.us/, you'll find his name in a group portrait of 19 miners of the Lucky Star Mine in Gold Hill in 1899. It's call # BHS 219-5-27 PHOTO. You can view the portrait online. There is also a Billy Swallow at the Conger Mine in Nederland in 1913. It's call # BHS 219-2-36 PHOTO. I know there was a Friends Church in Boulder by 1917, but I'm not sure what churches were in Gold Hill. Maybe the reference librarians can help?

I've understood that my grandparents were members but have no verification. Knowing might enable me to find marriage records.... Also, I have a photograph of the family along with many others at a church picnic that I'd be willing to share, but I can identify no one but my own relatives; it's from the 1910-1920 years. Let me know if you have an interest. Regards, Leah

I tried to write sooner but it was down. Anyhow, I spent some time in the Library on Saturday and looked through all of our mining books for Boulder County and did not find a reference to Clement Beecher/Becher. I also looked through our statewide census indexes, cemetery indexes, and any other index and I came up with nothing. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I found a photo album from about 1930 and I would love to get it back to either one of the actual people or their family. Here are some of the things written on the snapshots. Pictures of Colorado Football Game - Oct 17, 1931 Pictures of Boulder, Colorado Pictures of University of Louisville, KY Pictures of Indiana University - Buildings and football games Pictures of Purdue University Snapshot of Jack Reinhart Snapshot (faded) of Don Nayler - Golden, CO and Doc Pavelitich - New Mexico Snapshot of young man - "Ross" Snapshot of several young people no names Snapshot of Harold Norris Snapshot of two young men standing in the snow "Shafto and Jailbird" Loose poems written by Cal Carpenter, dated July 1931 Snapshots of several young people at Pike's Peak 1930's with an old car named "Sarah" Newspaper clipping about the death of Judge Joseph Herron - no date If any of this rings a bell let me know. I found a Harold Norris in Boulder, CO and I have written him a letter since I couldn't find an e-mail for him. He would be elderly now (if it is the same man) but could very well still be alive. I'm waiting to hear from him or his family. Judy in California Searching BIRDSHALL, EAKIN, FRAZELL, HAVENS, MCCLENNON, ROCHELLE, SIMINGTON, STRICKLAND, VANGELDER/VANGALDER

There is a mining book at the library. The next time I am in Boulder (funny, I live in an old mining town but don't really have much information about it here at home) I will look in the mining books that we have. Sorry I can't do it more quickly.

You might check the mountain counties because I believe mining was quite an attraction at the time. Good luck, Leah
