Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XY.2ADE/409 Message Board Post: Dennis Dailey came to Boulder County in 1859 from Burnett, Wisconsin with the Wisconsin Gold Company, which included seven other men including Mr. Hauck and Mr. Mackey (of the Mackey auditorium). He and his wife Juliette Green Dailey raised seven children on their ranch on Boulder Creek, south of its joining up with the St Vrain. children's names were: Hattie, married to Henry Nelson and removed to SW CO in 1877, Dempster, Hawley, Lulu Ott, Bertie Work, Imogene Baker, and Iver Dailey. Many of them remained in the Boulder-Longmont area--Hawley and Dempster both had elected positions in Boulder County. The old Dailey school is named for Dennis, and he was a member of a militia that protected settlers on Boulder Creek and the St. Vrain. His land, along with Mr. Hauck's land as well as perhaps others, was given to him by Chief Niwot. I have quite a bit of information about this family, but would love to have contact with other descendants of the Wisconsin Gold Company, or perhaps other descendants of Dennis and Juliette Dailey. I understand that their ranch remained in the Dailey family for some time after they moved to Ft. Morgan in 1887. Howard Snooks Howardsnooks@attbi.com
I found a photo album at a flea market in California. I do not have a connection with any of these people but I'm hoping someone on this list does. It appears to be photos from someone's college days. There is a snapshot of a football game, taken October 17, 1931 between Colorado vs. Nebraska. There are snapshots of young people on a trip to Pike's Peak in an old car named "Sarah". Some of the photos have names on them: Jack REINHART taken July 31, 1931, "Ross", Harold NORRIS, no date, Don NAYLER, Golden, CO, Doc PAVELITICH, John BURKE, two men in the snow just labeled "Shafto & Jailbird". Poems written by Cal CARPENTER (he signs his name "The Poet of the Platte") in July, 1931 called "Camp Satisfaction", "A Wanderer's Litany" and "Our Old Friends". There are photos of college football games in Boulder, Colorado taken October 17, 1931, photos of University of Louisville, KY, Indiana University and Purdue University. The photos are old but most of them are in perfect condition. Several of the photos were developed at Warren's Better Kodak Finishing - West Lafayette, Indiana on Oct 5, 1931. There is also a loose newspaper clipping about the death of Judge Joseph HERRON of the Howard Circuit Court and Dean of the local legal profession. The article mentions his secretary Goldie PERRY, his doctor Wilbur J. MARSHALL, his neighbors Joseph HARRIS and Margaret CRAIG, and his daughter Mrs. Ruth ANDERSON arriving from Wash.DC. No date on this article, it appears to be old, no state mentioned but a town mentioned in the article is Delphi and his address was W. Mulberry Street. I would love to see this photo album and this article returned to a relative of some of these people. Someone went to great trouble to put this photo album together. If the relatives can't be found I would at least like one of the colleges to have it. Carlson and her husband Henry Alexander Carlson came to Colorado sometime between the years of 1900 and 1903. Hilda's sister Anna S. Olson cmae with them. In the 1900 Census Anna was 38 years old and Hilda was 36. Prioe to living in or near Boulder Colorado they had resided in Axtell, Nebraska as recorded in the 1900 Kearney County, Nebraska Census. Hilda and Anna were the chilren on Gustaf and Mary Olson. They came to the USA in 1870 from Sweden. I am trying to locate any living relatives to Hilda and Anna Olson. Hilda's husband H.A. Carlson was the brother to my great grandfather John Andrew Carlson of Ong, Nebraska. Hilda and H.A. Carlson had 3 children Effie Lorraine Carlson born 1891 and Archibald Lincoln Carlson born in 1895 and Ica May Carlson born in 1897. According to my research neither Archie nor Effie had children. Ica had one child, Patricia but I have not found any information to lead me to believe that Patricia had any children. If that is true then this line of my family has come to an end. I was hoping if Anna had married and had even one child that there would be someone out there to tell me what happened to Hilda and Henry Alexander Carlson. Any help anyone can give me to put closure to this family line will be most appreciated. Thank You J. Olson
