Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XY.2ADE/451.1 Message Board Post: I have a copy of a wonderful book of newspaper extracts that Mary McRoberts did in 1991. It covers the period 1859-1900 : "Boulder County, Colorado / Deaths and the Insane / 1859-1900 / Newspaper Abstracts / Mary McRoberts / Boulder, Co / July 1991" I found a number of references to Franklins but none with your names. There was a "G.H." , a "H.G." , a "Parmelia" and a "Robert F." ; also a "Robert" (same as Robt F ?) and a "Louie" (female, possibly [sic]). However the following caught my eye as a possible clue (note born c.1827 and from Arkansas - a brother ?) I trust her extracts but beware of my typing. Hope I'm accurate. "Franklin, Benjamin F. shot 21 June and d 22 June 1867 by Junius Berkley at St Vrain. Berkley had rented a ranch and house from Franklin who then boarded with Berkley for a time. Difficulty between them arose and Franklin was notified to leave. Franklin came at Berkley with a chair, so Berkley shot him. Franklin kept coming and Berkley shot again. Before he died, Franklin wrote and signed a statement of fact. About age 40. Hus of Parmelia Franklin. Formerly of Arkansas. Here since 1959. (RMND 24 June 1867:4; see estate files) [RMND= Rocky Mountain News Daily. The reference to see estate files is I believe to the book "Boulder County, Colorado Estate Files 1850-1910" by Lois Wescott.] I don't have access to the estate files book but I have found the members of the societies in Boulder County to be most friendly and helpful. A supposition from the other articles is that "H.G." was a son of Benjamin and that Parmelia remarried some one named VanDusen and had a son "Bert". Bert VanDusen and H.G. are called half-brothers. Any of those names pop up ? Hope this points you in the right direction David

Surnames: Higdon, Barnes, O'Donnell, Loomis Classification: Lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XY.2ADE/422.1 Message Board Post: Adeline, I found two clues in the Polk city directories at the library. In 1916, Thomas H. O'Donnell and wife Effie are roomers at Curran Rooms, 2030 14th St., Boulder, CO. Thomas is employed at O'Donnell Bros. Garage (owned by T. H. and J. J. O'Donnell, who must be Thomas H. and John J.). The garage is at 1234 Walnut St. 2030 14th Street would be right downtown, next to the Boulder Theater - that would be a business now. 1234 Walnut doesn't exist anymore - it's probably a parking lot. In the 1930 directory, Eva S. Barnes is the widow of Chas. M. Barnes. She lives at 2537 Pearl Street with George and Mattie Loomis. Chas M. Barnes died Oct. 8, 1929. Sometime soon I'll check the Boulder newspaper microfilms for an obituary for Charles.

    2. Me myself
    3. Interestingly enough, I found the birth mother of my husband a couple of years ago. There is a lot you can do. Where did you get the information that you have? Did you get the non-identifying information from the state? A name is good. Do you know that you were born in Boulder County for sure? Do you know the name of the hospital? Do you have your original birth certificate, or do you have the "ammended" one? Have you registered on the Colorado Adoption Registry? Rema is the administrator and everyone there will do anything they can to help you. There are a few other things you can try and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. I've been through this and you must prepare yourself for whatever the outcome may be. Expect the wordt, but hope for the best, I guess.
