The KOBEL list includes all spelling variations of the name, which are also are CABLE, COBLE, GOBLE and a few others. Some early immigrants of KOBEL/COBLE'S settled in PA. and then seemed to break off into two distinct groups by the second and third generations. Some migrated to the southern states and some to Ohio and west as other states became settled in the early 1800's. In particular, my line of Abraham KOBEL/KOBLE used this spelling, but his daughter Anna Nancy's marriage record in 1841 revealed a spelling change to COBLE. My line began in PA. to Richland County, Ohio and Elkhart, Allen and Adams Counties in Indiana. I will be happy to post your query to the KOBEL list if you wish.
