I heartily agree with Jean's recommendation for posting documentation of sources. I have posted a request in several venues on the internet for primary source documentation for the Kobel/Koble/Coble lineage prior to the eighteenth century. There are several quite detailed descendant charts starting with Albrecht Kobel (1385-1440). However, none give primary sources. I have been unable to track down the authors of these charts and have a very uneasy feeling that we are copying the records of others without regard for primary sources. I am convinced that it is there, that it is real, and that it is significant. There can't be that much detail about someone from the fifteenth century without him being of some distinction. Hello Everyone- To those of you who wrote and asked for the photo of Jacob Kobel.....this is not a photo of Jacob (Oh, wouldn't that be nice) it is a photo of a PLAQUE commemorating the Town of Cobleskill's Bicentennial in 1997, honoring Jacob Kobel for which Cobleskill is named. My original message explained that. Now for those of you who still can't open the document file in which the photo is sent..... Can someone who was successful, PLEASE help! My scanner allowed me to send the photo to my Document Folder. The attachment of the photo is in a Document form. When I realized a few people could not open the attachment, I sent one to myself as a test and had no trouble. I'm running Windows 95. I am far from being a computer whiz and I have sent those having difficulty step by step instructions, but apparently they are still having a problem. Please help! Tell us how you opened the attachment. Thanks, Jean
Peggy, It seems that when Maria Barbara Summers, daughter of Capt. Peter, was only 15 years old when she married "Anthony Coble" who would have been 35 years old if born 1768. Had he been married before? Why did he die in Rockcastle Co. ky.? I thought they were living in Lincoln Co. Tn. Mary E. ( ggggranddaughter of Maria Barbara and Anthony)
Jean, I still cannot get the Jacob Kobel picture to materialize. I tried your suggestions, but no success. I would like very much to see what a Kobel ancester looked like. Mary E.
This is a little more information about the Barbara Summers dialog.
