    2. Hello Everyone- RootsWeb has had a problem with their servers and it has effected some list including COBLE and KOBEL. This means that since Friday, no messages were sent. If you posted to the list, RootsWeb has saved those messages and they will gradually be sent to us. If you have posted in the last several days and do not see your message, I suggest that you give it a day or two and then send the message again. Since RootsWeb has had to compensate for the lack of their major server, our lists have been moved to other servers. This also has presented a problem. If you have tried or will be trying to subscribe OR unsubscribe, your message may not "do" what you are asking it to do. Please contact me personally at JEANFAZZ@aol.com and I will manually subscribe or unsubscribe you from my list owner's utility page. Do this only if your message to subscribe or unsubscribe has failed. Please be patient, all this will go away......soon! Thank you, Jean Coble and Kobel list manager

    1. [COBLE] Ohio Coble's
    2. Thank you Chip-I am familiar with Ashland/Richlabd and Wayne Counties and how their townships changed in 1846. Lots of my ancestors including the Cobles' were living there during that time. Knowing that your Christian had a brother named Henry who purchased land in Ashland has been a big help. I have finally found who the father of my Abraham Coble is (I will post this information in another email). Abraham had a brother named Henry who appears to have left Franklin County, PA. ca 1835, based on tax records. When I saw a Henry Coble in Ashland I wanted to see if this Henry was indeed Abraham's brother (Abraham was there by 1836) or if he belonged to another Coble group. Now I think that the Henry who purchased property, most likely belongs to you and not me. What is interesting is that your line and my line were living very close together in Wayne/Ashland at the same time period. As for Christian Coble, I have just determined that there are no Christians in that generation, this Christian is yours. Thanks Chip! Jean

    3. Jean, Hi! Ahland Co. Ohio was not formed until 1846. Part of it was formed from Wayne and Richland counties (Ohiogenweb site). The land purchased by a Henry in Ashland Co. in 1831 and land purchased by a Christian in Richland Co. in 1832 were probably adjacent to each other or close by. The range #'s and Twp. #'s are close. My Chtistian Jr. and his brother Henry would still have been in this area at this time. These dates in fact coincide with the death of their father Christian Sr. in 1830 and the partition of his estate in 1831-32. It is very likely your Christian had a brother Henry. It seems every German family of this era had a Heinrich or two. No doubt our Christians and Henries were cousins. Have you tried Huron Co. Ohio? Orange Twp., Ashland Co. was formed out of Orange Twp., Huron Co. in 1846. I see you have 1850 census info for Orange Twp., Ashland Co. Info may be found in Huron Co. 3. Jean- Here is what I have on my Christian Kobel. I ran into some confusion searching in Ohio as well. Not only were there several Christians in Ohio during the same time period and some within close proximity to one another, I was trying to unscramble a Christian Sr. and Christian Jr. situation. Notice that Christian Jr. had a brother "Henry" born in 1798 in PA. Also, Christian Jr. was born 1808 in PA., you have an estimated birth date of 1806. Wayne Co., Ashland Co. and Richland Co. are all next to each other and the boundaries were different back then. This looks like it could be the Henry and Christian I have, but I cannot definitively say so without further info. Christian Jr. left Wayne Co. for Williams Co. OH. and may have lived for a short while in Richland Co., or this could be one of the other Chritians I kept running into. 14. 1. [COBLE] Coble in the Civil War
    2. Jaunice-Thank you for posting this. I recall reading several years ago that the National Park Service was planning to have available at each Civil War site, a searchable database of the soldiers names and the battles that they fought in. I was not aware that it was online. Can anyone identify any of these Coble men? Jean Coble and Kobel list manager

This site www.glorecords.blm.gov/ is a wonderful source of information. Click Search Land Patents, next type in the state you wish to search, then type in the surname, click Details next to the name, this will give you the Patent Description. Be sure to also click on Legal Land Description and Document Image. The Document Image actually shows the original Land Deed which is printable for your files. Be sure to search for all spelling variations as well. I am trying to determine if Christopher, Henry and John Coble of Ashland and Wayne Counties in Ohio are related to Abraham Coble who lived in Ashland County, Ohio by 1837. Abraham came to Ohio from Franklin Co., PA. In studying the 1820 and 1830 census records and early tax records for Franklin Co. PA., I have found Christopher, Henry, John and Abraham Coble all living in close proximity of each other. I appears that they are related, just need to find the relationship. Brothers or cousins. For those of you who have been on these lists for some time know that I have been very actively searching for other descendants of my Coble/Kobel line. Last week, as a result of my post to these lists, I did finally find a one! Mary's ancestress Barbara Coble is the sister of my ancestress Nancy Coble, daughters of Abraham. (1790-1865) I am delighted! It pays to post! Jean Coble and Kobel list manager ==== KOBEL Mailing List ==== Genealogy without Documentation is Mythology --part1_cd.b4d1fb.278b7e0e_boundary--
