Lisa, I have always viewed the spelling of names, the way that Julie said. Mistakes were made, but most of it was spelling the way it sounded, unless that person had some sort of document that listed a legal name.Now, I don't want to sound rude,or ruthless, but I feel sorry for students of some of today's teachers.They need more insight into our history than they have, consideration for others and "Knowledge" of human nature.I know their job is tough, but to unsubscribe because of a posting?
