Stella...can you tell us a bit more about his...there is a Wiley Coats in TN thought to have come from NC...the only William Coats there that we know of presently is the one that left there by 1762, but there is a conflict as to whether he went to SC or TN from NC...so you're latter date is of interest for a William Coats in the NC area... If the William Coats who left NC in 1762 went to SC, he is likely the William Coats of Camden District, who also had land on Kings Creek... If he went to TN, I'm not sure where he is... My Rev William Coats of SC, that is found in Smith County TN, is said to be the son of William Coats of Camden/Kings Creek SC... I think the Wiley Coats connected to this TN group went into Lincoln County TN?? not sure on that... There is also a William Coats early on in Sumner County TN, but he was from VA and served in the Revolution from VA, his estate papers are in the Coats Archive: http://www.rootsquest.com/~coatsfar Do keep us posted on what you find... I think she was daughter of William Coats who possibly went there around 1790/95.and went on to TN, but I don't have proof. If you have anyone of these, please post.
