Coates, Coate, Coats Digital Archive: http://www.rootsquest.com/~coatsfar Bill there was a William Coats son of Wilson Coats of Bedford County TN that went into MS...I think he had a brother James but not sure...most of the Coats had left the Newberry SC area by 1804 with the exception of John Coats sr and jr in Laurens County and Henry and Marmaduke Coats of Newberry County...seems Henry and Marm had a brother William that went to Clark County AL...and Marmaduke was in MS for a time...Marm was the surveyor in Newberry County SC...anyway much info on this group in the Coats Archive above.... Diane...there are a bundle of Johns...<g>...but most had left SC before 1820...do you have any places for these Coats?
