    3. Folks when I think of sources, I think of the original documents...unfortunately, as stated in that Bogus Genealogy article at Ancestry...<g>...isn't that were all those ged files are including mine...anyway, the major trouble with prior genealogies is the fact that in many cases, there isn't any source material cited so you can check it out... Joe pointed out in an email to me that there are a good many errors that are stated but no reference...he also stated that somewhere along the line you run into making a judgment call...that is sorta true to a certain extent...however, it is much better to show the research and documentation and then state there are several theories or the old theory is such and such...if you make a judgment call but don't point out the other possibilities that is not going to benefit anyone in the future either...I suspect with the web, documentation in the future isn't going to be a problem...the problem is going to be the conflicting theories...and unless documentation can be found to solve the theories the family lines will just remain open...this is what there is, this is what is thought and I don't think you can go beyond that...it is indeed a shame that families lines will reach this point... In my McKay line...Robert McKay sr, is said to have come from Freehold NJ, says that in a PA deed, but no other records can be found for him in Freehold NJ, so that is stated in the genealogy...he is said to have come from Scotland, but no documenation has been found of that...and that's the way it's stated in the genealogy.... To do otherwise, as in the Bogus article could easily lead many down the wrong path and as such maybe research in an area where records could be found are not even searched... So, those areas searched that don't produce documents should be stated as well... Remember those in the future may have a mound of papers available via the net...
