I don't recall the origins of LCT, Charlotte, but will look around for the info. As to the paucity of info on Coats families in LCT, all I can say is that that is consistent with their almost nonexistent record in Rowan Co. NC. I really tend to believe that my Coats ancestors were the sort who just did not particularly trust government in any form, so consequently, they had as little to do with it as possible. Again, as John knows, there is at least a good chance that some of the Coats families in Rowan Co. NC had Regulator connections(a la the Merrell family).
