Also if this is the place of death, check with some area funeral homes, their records are just as good as birth and death certificates and copies of the records are far easier to get...if there was an obit published in the local paper, that should be included with the funeral home records as well.... I've gotten several records from funeral homes... It is a very strong clue for place of death. Place issued will tell you where they were living when they applied (and may include what business they were working for at the time). If you are going to order an SS5, I'll clue you in to something. Ask for a photocopy of the record, and you will get to see the applicant's handwriting!
