The more accurate comment on this subject is as follows: The Philadelphia Monthly Meeting of Friends recorded the death of a Mary Coates, age 57, on 10-23-1770. This fits perfectly with the date of birth for Mary Langdale Coates, daughter of Josiah Langdale and Margaret Burton, who was born in 1713. In the same place it is reported that there was also a younger Mary Coates, age 30, who died on January 28, 1769. Mary Langdale and Samuel Coates had a daughter, Mary, born in March 1738, who would have been a little less than 31 years of age if she still lived at that time and would fit the described chronological circumstances.
