TN. He married Sept. 20, 1860 to Orlena B. Shipp the last daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth (Hurley) McElroy SHIPP in Lincoln Co. TN. I believe this James Coats was killed in the Civil War. I do not know which skirmish though. They had one child a male named S.S. Coats. This is all we know.
