The transcription of the West Line Street Cemetery (also called the Pioneer Cemetery) is online at Interment.net. I see your William L. Coats listed there. Their should be a binder at the entrance of the cemetery (right behind the hospital in West Line Street). The binder should tell you the location of the plot. I also see several other burials with the Coats name there so the cemetery transcriptions might help you a lot in your research. The folks at the County Clerk's office in Independence (in the Inyo County Courthouse) are super. If you stop there on your way to Bishop I'm sure that they will be able to help you. The Superior Court office is the next door down from the Clerk's office so if you need to look up any divorce papers or other court proceedings. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask. Denise
