We have a new Bible Record for Wilson Coats, son of Rev Will at: http://www.coatsarchive.us/tennesse.html Smith County right under the Bible record for Rev Will...it also confirms the date for Wilson's birth as well as shows his birth place as Smith County TN....there is also a Bible record of Isaac Agee in the same group of records.... This information comes from Frances Edmonston, from the James Longstreet Coats line, son of Felix Grudy Coats, son of Wilson Coats...some interesting notes of Frances' father was: In reference to the Coats' family: Although the exact date of his birth is unknown it is believed that William Coats was born in the old 96 District of South Carolina in the 1760s. His father is believed to have been another William Coats (he has Williams but that was another family line, I'm sure he's confused the last name since he then describes William Coats' will and kids....) who made a will in South Carolina. The will was made in Kershaw County, S.C. 15 June, 1783 and probated in 15 Dec 1784. In it he mentioned a daughter Ann and another daughter Priscilla Coats, as well as sons: Barton Coats, Wilson Coats, William Coats and Benjamin coats. His wife was Frances Coats. The maker of the above will is believed to have been the son of another William Coats who was first in PA, then in New Jersey and Maryland. From there to Rowan County N.C. and then to South Carolina. All this, however is just sepculation without valid proof.... I found the migration pattern interesting...PA to NJ to MD, NC then SC....I also believe at present that the Charles Coats in Frederick County MD came from another area outside of MD, since he doesn't see to fit into any of the other Coats' in that area....including Charles County MD....and apparently there is no Will or estate records for him in MD...so he may as well have moved from the MD area before he died....
