The answer to your question is two fold. First, we provide copies of county film reels through Interlibrary Loan. You can contact your local librarian and he or she can contact The Library of Virginia for more information. Be sure to provide your librarian with a citation for the records you want to research. A complete listing of our available county film is available on our website. Log on to www.lva.lib.va.us, then click on "Digital Library Program, " then click "Court Records- Indexes and Guides," from here you can choose the first letter of the locality you are interested in and see a listing of our film holdings for that county or city. Secondly, in order to purchase a copy of a county microfilm reel, you must obtain the permission of the County Clerk. That permission letter must be forwarded to The Library of Virginia with your request. The fee for duplicate microfilm is $50 per reel. Due to the heavy volume of reference requests received each year, Archives Research Services is unable to accept or respond to e-mail reference requests. Instructions and a form for submitting reference requests, for copies and reproductions may be found on the Library of Virginia web site: http://www.lva.lib.va.us/ under the heading Services for the Public. Please click on "How to Order Copies and Reproductions of Materials by Mail" and then click on "Archival Collection Material". If you are unable to access our web site, please forward your mailing address and we will send research and ordering information to you. For copies of researcher pamphlets please consult our web site --under Services for the Public click on "Archives Research and Library Reference" and then on "Archival Research Guides" or forward your mailing address to us and we will mail copies to you.
