Nell, isn't this your family....hmmmmm, well this is interesting....John William was one of Huff's sons as well....maybe a mistake and it should be just William, isn't he the one buried in Welch and I think Ann got a picture of his tombstone....I don't have those up yet....hmmmm....Char ******************* I have looked at all of your considerable work on Coats family and I am astounded at the volume of your work. I am uncertain exactly where my family ties in. My grandfather (James Henry Coats) from Oklahoma was one of 9 children and he produced l3 children. James Henry's parents were John William and Sarah. John William was born in l839 in Tennessee and died l9l6 (of war related wounds it is said). He may have married twice. One of his wives was part Cherokee. Sarah Coats died in l938 and is buried in Joplin, Missouri. John William does not quite seem to fit in the Rev. Coats clan. I suspect that Eva Coats listed as Cherokee wife of John William Coats may have been his other wife. Do you have any thoughts about how my family ties into the Tennessee group?
