Yeah, but look where five of his kids were born...in GA...so he must have gone from SC to GA then to LA...wonder if this could be the Morgan Coats', in Jackson County GA, son...boy this is interesting...better yet...1850 Census if he was 48, he was born in 1802? The Morgan Coats in GA had a land lottery grant in GA, don't recall if it was the first or second...could be the same Morgan Coats...I don't know anything about the Morgan Coats in GA except that he was in Jackson County, GA...I've been trying to get some of the land records from GA State Archive...but man they are really slow in responding...guess I'll have to give them a call tomorrow or Monday....but there is also a group of Coats in Jefferson County GA...a Charles, James and William Coats...from Court records it looks like both Charles and James died about 1804, both about the same time or year...I thought that a bit strange as in...but maybe not...but I am trying to get some of those records out of GA... I believe this Morgan must have had a son Morgan Coats that married in 1851 to Sophiah Rawlings Note: that this Morgan Coats is from SC and he lived in Mississippi in 1836. There is a possiblity that Morgan is a relation to Austin Coates. I feel before coming to Mississippi from SC that Austin Coates family probably went to Georgia as did not that travelled from SC to Mississippi.
