Some observations in reference to the Ben Coats, jr deed I mentioned before in Bedford County TN, the witnesses were: William Coats, William Gore and a McCuistion (sp) - this deed was signed in June of 1817 and recorded in Sept of 1817 Rev William Coats in Smith county moved to MO in 1817 as well, but his deeds are dated January of 1817 and March of 1817 the latter recorded in April of 1817...so he would have been gone from TN before June of 1817.... So this would distinquish Rev William Coats from this William Coats in Bedford County... Also the fact that the deed says Ben, jr. would indicated his father was a Benjamin as well...
