amazes me how families intertwine. My grandmother was Sarah Kennemer ( m. James William Coats) which some claim are connected with Canmore./ Kenimore. Do you have a web address or link to the Cots castle information? thanks for sending your info. sherri ----- Original Message ----- From: Sue Taub To: culpepper@prodigy.net ; COATES-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, April 09, 2001 2:40 PM Subject: Re: [COATES-L] Farquarsons I found this description in a Scottish CANMORE website There is more than one Canmore website. I became interested because my mother, who knew her grandfather, the one we call John II who was in the War between the States, said that his grandfather had seen the castle in Scotland, and that there "wasn't much left". The Farquharson Clan is a sept of Clan Chattan. Clan Chattan was a confederation of several clans and considered the most powerful in Scotland. I knew there was a Coates Castle in England -- It's apparantely newer than the one below. Here's the info on the one in Scotland, such as it is!! It is a "ruined castle" -- only a built-up mound and evidence of walls -- two walls were apparantely still visible. I'll see if I can find the info.
