I've been re-evaluating Henry Coate and Mary "Molly" Pitts and have come to wonder whether or not that Henry was the one who owned the 350 acres on Goosepond.. I say this because there is an incongruity between his age and the birth of his children in the census records verses when the land was bought in 1771.... He would have had 5 members of his household in 1771... and he would not match the Henry who was between 26 and 45 years of age in the 1800 census. He also didn't have any children till 1784, years after he bought the land.... so I'm don't think that the Henry on Goosepond is the Henry who married Molly Pitts.... Does anyone have any idea who the Henry of 1771 is? Maybe he's Henry's father, named Henry also from Hunterdon Co., NJ????????????? LINDA COATE DUDICK, P.O.
