We have a Suzie who married Professor Winfield Montgomery RIVERS (1824-1905) of James Island, SC BEF 1850. RIVERS was a graduate of Charleston College. In 1850 he was living with Mrs. Sarah Williamson Bird LAMAR in Newton County, GA. She was the widow of Judge L. Q. C. LAMAR of Milledgeville. Her parents were Dr. Thompson BIRD and Nancy WILLIAMSON of Milledgeville. I think Suzie was a CAPERS because the CAPERS was close to this RIVERS family but their genealogy is worse than some of our DANIEL families. However, my cousin, Dr. Anne KILPATRICK of Atlanta told me of a COATS cousin who lived in SC. I have forgotten her first name. I do know a Parmelia SHECUTT was living with my grand uncle, Mat RICHTER and his wife, Hallie Elise RIVERS (1850-1935) in 1880 in Madison, GA. Hallie was the daughter of Professor RIVERS and this Suzie. I also know that this Suzie died in 1862 in a typhoid epidemic and her and RIVERS children then went to live with his mother, Elizabeth Royall RIVERS on James Island. RIVERS was then in Hampton's Legion but he must have been discharged by the summer of 1864 because then he is in Jefferson County, GA where he was a witness on the will of James S. SPEIR in Jefferson County, GA. This will was executed by my GGF, Robert W. DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865). Several years later RIVERS married my GGF's widow, Mary Jane RENEAU, the d/o Rev. Russell RENEAU, who had been a Presiding Elder in the GA Conference of the ME Church. Russell and his wife, Elizabeth STOCKTON, lived in Oxford when Mary Jane (1830-1912) married Robert DANIEL in 1852 in Jefferson County, GA. Mary Jane, my GGM, was RWD's third or fourth wife.
