Not quite..... besides the John Coates on the 1619 passenger list found in "Virginia Genealogical Society Quarterly" (included in my last email) there is.... Early Virginia Immigrants; 1623-1666 (including person who sponsored the immigrant to America) Coate, Abraham, 1642, by John Benton, ---- Co. Coates, John, 1650, by Henry Peaseley, ---- Co. Coats, Jon., 1643, by William Ewins, James City Co. side note - You know there are some surname researchers who are working desperately to join the Mayflower Society (another list) - I wonder if they realize that there were colonists established in Virginia at the time the Pilgrims landed - it's amazing what the right PR can do for an organization....
