Those GA Jefferson County are rather interesting...seems to me Charles, James and William were on early tax lists...which could indicate they were brothers...then Charles and James are both dead by 1804...that seems a bit strange, I'm thinking maybe an Indian attack or something...but William who is appointed the guardian of Charles' kids could be either an older son or a brother William...but then William still appears in the jury records down to 1812, which seems to indicate this later William is the son of one of these early Coates....which might mean there are two different Williams in this group... no mention of James' kids...and now there are at least one wife, Charles', who probably remarried, if James was married and had kids, he has a wife who probably remarried as well...Charles' wife in SC was Ann, so will be interesting to learn more about this group of Coates....also Charles' son is named Thomas...that second name Bu looks like just part of the name with blank space..so I'm not sure what the whole name is...and Melly maybe Milly... Just some thoughts....
