I wouldn't forward that e-mail to anyone. The John Alexander related to our line was John Alexander Coats, son of James Robert Coats. He moved to Texas sometime in the 1870's. They stopped for a while in Coryell Co., just south of Waco, as this was, at the time, the edge of Indian Territory. Then they moved on to Cottonwood, Callahan Co., Tx a little later. He was a commissioner of Callahan Co., in the 1880s. Some Griffins of Issaquena Co. Ms.also located there. I had the whole history of this family, but unfortunately discarded some. John A. had a lot of sons, a George Washington, and a Leonard. Leonard died sometime in the late 1990's. Most are buried there at Cottonwood. This is a different family than the one you are talking about. John W.
I don't know of any in my line that went to TX early on either...although like I say, William Coats and Patsy had a lot of kids who we've lost track of other than their names but that would be mid 1800s... So again...we need those Male Coats DNA tests....:) Char On Fri, Aug 7, 2009 at 8:45 AM, John Coats <jwcoats@htc.net> wrote: > I wouldn't forward that e-mail to anyone.
