We've had more results come in, though he isn't yet a cousin match at this point in time. We also had another person join the group. That's happening regularly now as more persons learn the benefits of DNA testing for assistance with family tree research. So if youe are still waiting on a cousin match, take heart. Our group is growing all the time. Linda Coate, admin.

I am curious to know if any YDNA testees connect to Coates in NC ca. 1780-1784 and especially to the Coates/Coats: Nathaniel, Lesley, William, John, and Henry in early Wilkes County GA ca. 1784. Or if there are any Coates connected to Smileys in GA On Sun, Apr 19, 2009 at 12:56 PM, John Coats <jwcoats@htc.net> wrote: > Linda Coate wrote: Linda; Just wondered what kind of software most > are using for recording their history. Wiley Coats group towards the bottom of our page at http://www.ancestrees.com/dna/family.html encompasses most of the North Carolina Coates that have been tested. There is a William who died in 1801 at the top of this group. A few NC folks are up in the James/John/William group and in the Gabriel Coates group. There doesn't appear to by anyone yet connected back to the Georgia Coates, though a Nathaniel appears in the first group called Alex/James of TX/TN, b. 1818. I believe that some of the Georgia Coates moved to Tennessee so that would be your best lead currently to contact that group to see if that's where they think they came from. Legacy has a huge number of fancy printouts with their Deluxe version, so many, I haven't begun to explore them. I'd definitely check it out. They are great over the phone and give free technical help if you ever need it. I don't know how they make money. Linda I think they are at www.legacyfamilytree.com on the net.
