I have oodles of info about the Dawbin side of my family but nothing at all about the Coate side. They seem to be hard to find for some reason and everyone I ask is doing a different Coate tree, though I personally think they are all related as it is not a common name. Elizabeth and Joseph went to NZ. I think that Elizabeth's father was Henry Coate and her mother was Joan ? . They had land at Stoke St Gregory apparently. ( a guess or a hope ) But she called her first son Henry. Elizabeth thought enough of the Coate name to give it as a middle name to at least 3 of her children. Does any of that sound familiar to you ??? This is my direct line so I'd like to know more. I don't know if it is relevant or not but Joseph Dawbins grandfather was Lord of the Manor Stawell...Ford Farm. What that means and what the place is like I do not know. But it probably means they weren't poor.
